A prolific inventor and the holder of more than 80 patents, Mr. MacCracken developed products ranging from cooling towers and ducted heat systems to military coveralls to prevent soldiers from freezing during the Korean Conflict.

He was also an 11-time national squash champion.

“His pioneering efforts will be long remembered by an industry that will be ever grateful,” said Clifford H. (Ted) Rees, president of the Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute. “His trail-blazing ideas benefited people and the world.”

Among survivors is his son, Mark, who is currently president of CALMAC.
