New Power Plants Planned for NY

NEW YORK, NY — The New York Energy Buyers Forum (NYEBF) is supporting the 10 small power plants planned by the New York Power Authority (NYPA) to ensure electric reliability and price stability in the New York City area this summer.

At present, generating capacity needed to meet the expected summer peak demand in the Consolidated Edison territory is short about 315 megawatts (MW). If all are installed, NYPA plants will provide about 400 MW to meet that need.
