Monday, Jan. 26, 2004: Emerson Holds Extravaganza Prior To Expo Opening

January 26, 2004
Dressed in racing gear, attendant Natalie (right) greets Tom Miller of Control Techniques, Minneapolis (left), and Brad Nelson of Emerson (middle) to Emerson Control Technologies’ extravaganza at Hollywood Pictures Backlot Sunday evening.
ANAHEIM, Calif. – On the evening before the opening of the International Air-Conditioning, Heating, Refrigerating Expo (AHR Expo), Emerson Climate Technologies presented an extravaganza for invited dealers, distributors, and guests at Disney's California Adventure Park.

Attendees were entertained with comedy shows, gambling, magician acts, and more at Hollywood Pictures Backlot, located in the theme park next to Disneyland. Racing legend Rusty Wallace was also present, signing autographs. He will have the same task on opening day of the AHR Expo, signing autographs at Emerson Climate Technologies' booth (#4510) from 10 a.m. until noon.

Enjoying the hospitality at Emerson Climate Technologies’ extravaganza Sunday evening are (from left) John Conrad, publisher of the Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration News; Tom Stocker, operations controller, Nortek; Dave LeGrand, president of Nordyne; and Rick Bready, chairman of Nortek.
Tom Bettcher, business leader for Emerson Climate Technologies, said this year's AHR Expo will provide a platform for communicating the continued expansion and success of its UltraTech Home Series, as well as Emerson's efforts to help contractors meet the 2010 R-22 phaseout and further increase energy efficiency.

Introduced at last year's expo in Chicago, the UltraTech Home Series represents a new concept in residential heating and cooling technology, noted Bettcher. It is designed to provide a grouping of the most advanced, energy-efficient products that can either stand alone as an individual application, or be combined for a more complete system solution, he said. According to the company, the series features several first-to-market innovations – from two-stage scroll compressors and advanced furnace ignition controls to "forward-thinking diagnostics," all designed to reduce energy usage, enhance comport, and improve serviceability.

Invited guests go through the food line at Emerson Climate Technologies’ extravaganza.
"Since introducing the UltraTech Home Series last year, we have made significant progress in further enhancing and expanding the best-in-class series," said Bettcher. "This, of course, has been driven by how quickly the industry has embraced the innovative series, and the large amount of positive feedback we have received from equipment manufacturers, wholesalers, and contractors.

"Contractors are actively promoting the benefits of UltraTech products to homeowners, and several major OEMs are applying our technology in their designs for high-end residential products," Bettcher continued. "Everyone is realizing that UltraTech is important in reaching the higher efficiency and comfort expected by today's homeowners, as well s supporting new system innovation and giving contractors a way up to sell and improve their service business."

Racing legend Rusty Wallace addresses the crowd at Emerson Climate Technologies’ extravaganza, held Sunday evening at Disney’s California Adventure Park.
Bettcher said Emerson will use the expo as a platform to further explain the integration, highlight the progress made, and show how the UltraTech Home Series products can work together.

At the expo, Emerson plans to introduce its UltraTech Thermostat and the EK Filter Drier. Regarding the thermostat, Emerson said it will provide humidity control, eliminating the need for a separate humidistat.

Also at the expo, the company said it will highlight its efforts to help the industry prepare for the 2010 R-22 phase-out. The booth will feature numerous technologies designed to provide contractors and OEMs with "the most efficient and environmentally safe solutions available."

With his new car unveiled in the background, racing legend Rusty Wallace answers questions from the invited guests at Emerson Climate Technologies’ Sunday evening extravaganza, held at the Hollywood Pictures Backlot, located inside Disney’s California Adventure Park.
"Energy efficiency and the R-22 phase-out are currently two of the biggest issues facing the industry today, and the strengths and expertise we bring to the marketplace make us uniquely qualified to help contractors meet these challenges," said Joe Niemann, vice president of marketing and eBusiness for Emerson Climate Technologies. "From our recently enhanced Copeland Digital Scroll, which is designed for use with R-410A and provides a new level of precision and energy efficiency, to products such as the EK Filter Drier, which is designed to protect the synthetic polyol ester oils used with R-410A from contaminants, we are committed to delivering products that not only meet or exceed today's performance requirements but also provide environmentally sound solutions for the future."
