Monday, Jan. 26, 2004: AHR Expo Kicks Off With Press Reception

ARI’s William Sutton thanks the trade press for supporting the HVACR trade.
ANAHEIM, Calif. - The trade press was given a warm welcome to the 2004 AHR Expo by members of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) and the Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute (ARI).

ARI President William G. Sutton thanked the media for telling the "good news" about the HVACR trade and added, "We've had a great year - a record year. Heat pumps and unitary A/C equipment shipments were up. And we are looking forward to another great year."

Some of the statistics released at the reception:

  • The last West Coast Expo (San Francisco, 1998) featured 1,034 exhibitors. The 2004 West Coast Expo (Anaheim) features 1,214 exhibitors (17.4 percent increase).

  • 407 companies are showing new products.

  • 198 companies are showing IAQ-related equipment.

  • 225 first-time exhibitors.

  • 277 international exhibitors from 34 countries (62 percent increase over 1998).
