MAUI, Hawaii - Jim Hausman, of Hausman Metal Works and Roofing, St. Joseph, Mo., was recognized as the Legislative Contractor of the Year at the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors' National Association (SMACNA) President's Luncheon at the 61st annual convention.

"Jim is a loyal member who has made an exceptional effort to develop and maintain a relationship with his U.S. representatives and senators," commented SMACNA President Mark Watson. Hausman has been a Congressional Insiders Club member since 1995 and regularly attends the Construction Alliance National Issues Conference.

Hausman is active in Kansas City politics and has established many relationships with local legislators. Currently, he serves as the chairman of the SMACNA Kansas City Chapter's Legislative Committee, trustee of Mo-Kan Sheet Metal Workers Welfare Fund, trustee/secretary of Sheet Metal Workers Local #2 Apprenticeship Committee, and president of the Sheet Metal Workers' St. Joseph Area Industry Fund.

In addition, Hausman has served as president of the SMACNA Kansas City Chapter and past co-chair of the St. Joseph Area Labor-Management Committee.

This award is given to contractors annually in recognition of exceptional effort and unsurpassed leadership in legislative and political action on behalf of their company, their association, and their industry in the preceding year.
