InSinkErator, a manufacturer of food waste disposers and hot water dispensers, and the National Association Home Builders (NAHB) Women’s Council honored members with scholarships and awards as part of the 52nd annual Women’s Council Spike Club Awards Reception, held at the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) International Builders Show in Orlando, Fla.

Members who exceeded recruitment expectations in 2007 were awarded scholarships that their local women’s council will use to provide financial assistance to students pursuing degrees relevant to the building industry. This program has helped hundreds of students including Tiffany Woodring, who, without the help of InSinkErator and the Women’s Council, would have never been able to pursue her dream of earning a bachelor’s degree.

“We are extremely proud to have worked with the NAHB Women’s Council for more than 50 years, helping recruit and assist young people in the building industry,” said Rob Grim, vice president of wholesale sales at InSinkErator. “We look forward to the talent and contributions of the next generation.”

Emilee Collins of the HBA of Durham, Orange & Chatham Counties was the top recruiter and the Rookie of the Year, recruiting 24 new members. She was awarded the National Spike Award, receiving a plaque from the Women’s Council and a $500 scholarship.

The following regional award winners received a $300 scholarship and a Spikette pin:

Northeast Region A: JoAnn Bogese of the Southside VA Women’s Council;

Southeast Region B: Julie Lawrence of the Greater Montgomery HBA;

Midwest Region C: Polly Marean of the HBA of Greater Des Moines Women’s Council;

Midwest, Mid-South and Texas Region D: Pam Weaver of the Acadiana HBA Women’s Council;

American West Region E: Chris Wissenback, BA of Northern Nevada.
