March 1, 2006: Texas Furnace Expands to Build Micro-Channel Coils

HOUSTON - Texas Furnace LLC has completed a 75,000-square-foot plant expansion here. This expansion houses a new, state-of-the-art micro-channel coil manufacturing facility. The facility will produce high-efficiency micro-channel aluminum condenser coils to be used by Texas Furnace in a new line of 13 SEER split-system air conditioners.

Texas Furnace, with its Spartan series air conditioners, will be one of the first manufacturers to bring this high-efficiency coil to the residential air conditioning market. Pioneered by the automobile industry, and used successfully for over 50 years, the coil allows for more air conditioning capacity in a smaller space. The 5-ton 13 SEER model is 28 inches tall and delivers 56,000 Btuh at ARI test conditions. Some smaller tonnage models are no more than 16 inches in height. All models have a common footprint. Full air conditioner production is currently slated for April 2006.
