Manufacturers for the Week: March 26, 2001

  • Johns Manville (Denver, CO) has acquired Skloplast a.s. (Irnava, Slovakia), a fiber glass manufacturer.
  • Financial results for Burnham Corp.’s (Lancaster, PA) year ended Dec. 31, 2000 included net sales of $225.7 million, an increase of $10 million from 1999. Earnings for the year were down from $9.6 million in 1999 to $7.1 million in 2000, while basic earnings per share fell to $3.17 from $4.24 in 1999. The company increased the dividend rate for 2001 to $2.04 per share, and preferred stock dividends are now $3.00 per share.
  • Colmac Coil Manufacturing (Colville, WA) has received a Canadian Registration Number (CRN) for its aluminum tube ammonia coils, and has fully implemented it in all Canadian provinces.
  • Invensys Climate Controls (ICC) (Columbus, OH) has promoted Dale Barnhart to president. He had been vice president and general manager of Ranco North America.
  • The production of integral horsepower motors has been expanded by A.O. Smith Electrical Products Company (Tipp City, OH) at its Juarez, Mexico operation. All integral horsepower motors rated 3 to 30 hp will now be manufactured here.
  • The EPA-DOE Energy Star® Program has named Johnson Controls (Milwaukee, WI) “Partner of the Year.” The award was given in recognition of the company’s commitment to preventing pollution through the integration of energy-efficient systems in buildings all over the United States.
