GE Industrial Systems (Plainville, CT), a division of the General Electric Company, announced that it has completed the acquisition of the Sensing Solutions group of Spirent plc, based in the United Kingdom.

A.O. Smith Electrical Products Company (Tipp City, OH) is now providing round-the-clock technical support for the drive component of its ac variable-speed drive and motor packages. Customers can reach the drive technical support group by calling 877-506-8427.

R. Bruce Dewey has been appointed as president and chief operating officer of Mestek, Inc. (Westfield, MA), while William S. Rafferty has been appointed as the firm’s executive vice president. John E. Reed, the company’s chairman, will continue as chief executive officer.

The A.O. Smith Water Products Company (Irving, TX) has contributed $15,000 to the New York Firefighters 9-11 Disaster Relief Fund.
