Rheem Manufacturing Co. Air Conditioning Division (Fort Smith, AR) has named Steven P. Schmitt as manager of sales and distribution for the North Central Region. Schmitt is responsible for four of the company’s sales districts representing the Division’s Rheem® and Ruud® distribution network in 11 states.

Burnham Corp. (Lancaster, PA) has reported financial results for the period ending June 30, 2001. Second-quarter sales were $46.2 million, down 4% compared to $48.2 million in the same period of 2000. Net income for the second quarter was $26,000 compared to a net loss of $1 million for the same quarter of 2000. A quarterly dividend of $0.51 per share on both classes of common stock has been declared and will be payable on August 31, 2001 to stockholders of record on August 15, 2001

Thomas & Betts Corp. (Memphis, TN) announced financial results for the quarter ended July 1, 2001. Sales for the second quarter were $385.4 million, compared to $403.6 million for the second quarter of 2000. The company also reported a net loss of $5.4 million, or $0.09 loss per share in the quarter.

President James R. Bard and chairman and ceo Richard O. Bard of Bard Manufacturing Company (Bryan, OH) were awarded Ernst & Young’s 2001 Northwest Ohio Entrepreneur of the Year Award. The award recognizes entrepreneurs who have demonstrated excellence in such areas as innovation, financial performance, and personal commitment to their business and community.

Maytag Corporation (Newton, IA) has completed its acquisition of Amana Appliances from Goodman Global Holdings, Inc. for $325 million.

Emco Limited (London, ON, Canada) has reported earnings for the three months ended June 30, 2001. New earnings for the quarter were $4.6 million or $0.27 per basic and diluted share, compared to $8 million or $0.02 per basic and diluted share for the second quarter of 2000. Sales for the quarter were $345 million, up 8.5% from the same quarter last year.
