ROSWELL, Ga. - LG Electronics USA opened the LG Training Academy in Roswell, Ga., to support the company’s fast-growing commercial air conditioner business. At 16,000 square feet, this facility has the capability to train hundreds of engineers, contractors, and technicians each month. The training academy is the centerpiece of the new LG Roswell facility, which also houses the company’s local operations for LG Mobile Phones and LG Digital Appliances. This location currently has a total of 30 employees and plans to hire additional staff in 2009.

According to the company, the strategic location of the new facility made Roswell a natural choice, placing LG in a position to deliver the best hands-on product training for a region of the country with high demand for commercial air conditioning systems.

Michael Ahn, president and CEO, LG Electronics North America, called the new Roswell location “a symbol of LG’s growth and vitality” in North America. “This is another important milestone in LG’s tremendous expansion in the United States,” he said. “Particularly noteworthy now during the U.S. recession is LG’s investment in the communities where we live and work and our commitment to economic development and education here in the greater Atlanta area.

Attendees will have the option of participating in shorter half-day courses to more intensive five-day training sessions. The new training academy will provide focused training rooms for education on LG’s Multi-V Applied Commercial Systems, Duct-Free Mini Split and Packaged Terminal Air Conditioner (PTAC) systems, and layout and model selection software. The training will provide hands-on experience with LG’s products in diverse situations for full application training.

“LG’s first commercial training facility in the U.S. highlights our growth in the region, and our commitment to the U.S. air conditioning industry,” said Steve Schmitt, director, Commercial Air Conditioning, LG Electronics USA Inc.

“As our commercial a/c business continues to expand, this facility will be crucial to providing our key partners and engineers with the educational tools necessary for successful installations.”
