Lawsuit Filed Against Centrex

SACRAMENTO, CA — A lawsuit was recently commenced against Centrex Homes, an affiliate of Centrex Corporation, in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of California asserting a class action claim, according to Armand M. Estrada of Estrada & Thomson.

Estrada & Thomson and Law Offices of James G. Schwartz, plaintiffs’ attorneys, are prosecuting the lawsuit on behalf of the owners of 207 residences located in the Serrano and Crescent Ridge subdivisions in El Dorado County and in the Treelake Village subdivision in Placer County, California.

The complaint includes causes of action for strict liability, breach of express warranty, unfair business practices, breach of contract, negligent design, and intentional and negligent misrepresentation. The complaint also alleges that there are common issues concerning stucco exteriors, heating and air conditioning systems, roofs, and windows.

Damages are being sought for the costs to remedy the issues mentioned above, as well as restitution of monies relating to the unfair business practice claims and attorney fees. The estimated cost of remedial work alleged in the complaint approaches $8 million.
