David Cooper has won a weekend getaway at the Four Seasons Resort in Scottsdale for guessing the correct day of Phoenix's first 100 degree day as part of the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors' National Association-Arizona Chapter (SMACNA Arizona) 100 Degree Contest.

Cooper, who works for SMACNA Arizona contractor Kinetic Systems Inc., correctly predicted Thursday, May 11, at 2:12 p.m., which was the time reported by the National Weather Service.

The contest was designed to be a fun way for people to get ready for the hot months of summer and to help them learn more about SMACNA Arizona's member contractors and the quality, training, and craftsmanship they provide. Each entrant was required to enter the contest via SMACNA Arizona's Website at www.smacna-az.org.

Carol Goguen, SMACNA Arizona's executive director, said it's also a way for the chapter to kick-off its annual "Cool Air Project," in which the organization donates box fans to the Area Agency on Aging for distribution to those who might need them during the summer months.
