Simply ensuring techs attend these industry events isn’t enough. It is also vitally important to make sure they are active participants in whatever discussions, activities, or thought-provoking exercises are taking place once they arrive.

As members of the baby boomer generation transition into retirement, more and more qualified individuals are needed to take their places in the workforce. Currently, the number of jobs opening up in the industry far outpaces the number of workers available to fill them.
Having passed many certification tests and proctored many others, I have found faults in the tests used to verify a person’s skills. Certification can be a way to prove competency, but only if our certifying tests are held to a higher standard.
