ICA and OTS team up to engage and encourage students, academics, and professionals
February 27, 2017
The International Copper Association Inc. (ICA) and Optimized Thermal Systems Inc. (OTS) announced a new technology outreach program on the design and use of heat exchangers made with MicroGroove™ smaller diameter copper tubes.
The Copper Alliance and Optimized Thermal Systems Inc. (OTS) announced that newly developed MicroGroove™ correlations will be implemented in CoilDesigner software, a proprietary heat exchanger simulation and design optimization tool developed by the Center for Environmental Energy Engineering (CEEE).
MicroGroove Tubes Made from New Copper Tube Alloys Provide High Strength and High Thermal Conductivity
January 15, 2015
Smaller-diameter copper tubes strengthened with low percentages of alloying elements can withstand the higher pressures of the new refrigerants such as CO2 (R-744), according to the International Copper Association.
The International Copper Association (ICA) is presenting a new, free webinar on smaller-diameter, inner-grooved copper tubes titled “MicroGroove Copper-Tube Coils: Moving beyond Residential Applications.”
Bigger is not always better, and one recent example is the new MicroGroove technology, which was introduced in 2010. This technology is defined by smaller diameter copper tubing with enhanced inner surfaces for the purpose of reducing refrigerant charge, minimizing material content and improving heat transfer.
