WASHINGTON - The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has designated the Vigilair® Biodefense System as a Qualified Anti-Terrorism Technology (QATT), in accordance with the Support Anti-Terrorism by Fostering Effective Technologies (SAFETY) Act of 2002.

Vigilair technology is implemented inside a building's HVAC system to reduce or eliminate the effects of a bioterrorism attack such as the targeted release of anthrax or smallpox. It earned the designation after review by a panel of experts chosen by the DHS.

Designation means that customers of Vigilair Systems Inc. receive liability protection in the event of a terrorist attack. It is a dual-use technology that protects against attack and continuously improves IAQ by capturing and removing airborne pollutants such as mold, bacteria, and viruses. The system employs high-efficiency filtration, ultraviolet germicidal irradiation (UVGI), and other proprietary technologies to provide predictable control of the indoor environment.
