July 25, 2005: SBE Council Reports Make Case For Tax Relief Permanency

WASHINGTON - The Small Business & Entrepreneurship Council (SBE Council) has recently released a series of four reports detailing the importance of making key tax relief measures within President Bush's 2001 and 2003 tax packages permanent. The reports specifically focus on reductions in capital gains and personal income tax rates, repealing the estate tax, and expanding small business expensing.

"The 2001 and 2003 tax cuts have been very important for entrepreneurs, small firms and their workforce, and the economy in general," said Karen Kerrigan, the SBE Council's president and CEO. "However, the looming uncertainty about the future of these tax measures limits their full economic potential. It is important that the economy and small businesses not be hit with a series of tax increases in coming years. The 2001 and 2003 tax relief measures must be made permanent."
