Johnson Controls Co.: Packaged Heating and Cooling Units

The Coleman Apex™ Series of residential and light commercial packaged heating and cooling units are available in 3-, 4-, and 5-ton sizes. All models are designed with gas and electric utility knockouts on the sides and bottom for either horizontal or bottom duct connections. A common footprint, holes for overhead rigging, and forklift holes on three sides simplify installation on a roof curb, slab, roof jack, or frame. The series features 14 SEER and has an EER as high as 12.0. Single-phase units with gas heat have a minimum 80 percent AFUE. A Simplicity® control board, standard on all models, features integrated low-ambient control, anti-short cycle protection, fan delays, safety monitoring, nuisance trip protection, and onboard diagnostics. Every model is available with a wide variety of factory-installed options, including a stainless steel heat exchanger, electric heater, phase monitor, convenience outlet, dirty filter switch, disconnect switch, smoke detectors, and coil guard to make the unit suitable for almost every application. A complete line of field-installed options is also available, featuring propane and high-altitude conversion kits, motorized dampers, single enthalpy economizers, and dual enthalpy sensors. Heat exchangers are corrosion resistant, with aluminized steel tubular construction for durability, and a powder-painted, galvanized steel finish meets 1,000-hour salt spray standards to further ensure a long service life.
