Jan. 25, 2011: Pure Energy Center Named Approved Training Affiliate of BPI

LANCASTER, Pa. - Pure Energy Coach LLC, a leading provider of training, energy auditing and quality assurance services for home improvement professionals and energy efficiency programs, announced that its new retreat-style training center, The Pure Energy Center near Lavina, Montana, has achieved Training Affiliate status with the Building Performance Institute Inc. (BPI). BPI is a building performance credentialing, quality assurance, and national standards setting organization for home performance and energy efficiency retrofits.

The Pure Energy Center, a 212-acre campus in the foothills of the Bull Mountains of south central Montana, is the fifth organization in the state to achieve BPI Affiliation, a designation that signifies the organization’s instructors and curriculum meet the standards required to prepare students for BPI Certified Professional written and hands-on exams. Pure Energy has held BPI Training Affiliate status for its Lancaster, Pa., headquarters since late 2008.

“We are thrilled to receive our BPI affiliation for The Pure Energy Center,” said A. Tamasin Sterner, president and chief coach at Pure Energy. “We can’t wait to bring our proven training and mentoring programs to Montana. Our ability to offer courses in this unique working ranch setting is perfect for many folks who want to learn how to fix buildings.”

According to BPI, its Training Affiliates teach whole-home performance evaluation and installation methodologies for improving the comfort, health, safety, durability, and energy efficiency of America’s existing housing stock. Students learn the house-as-a-system approach that focuses on the relationships between different components within the home, how to identify problems at the root cause and provide solutions that improve energy efficiency, while enhancing important safety functions such as mold prevention, indoor air quality, and carbon monoxide testing, as well as combustion appliance safety checks. The diagnostic tests and evaluations prove whether or not all systems are working together.

BPI credentials are referenced and/or required for home improvement professionals participating in a number of federal, state, local, and utility homeowner incentive programs, including the proposed federal Home Star program considered in Congress in 2010.
