The Retro Damperâ„¢ is a low-cost retrofit zone control damper that can easily add zone control to any existing home, the manufacturer says. Also, it is an alternative to pneumatic systems that require plastic tubing and pumps. A small slot is cut into the existing ductwork, and the zone control damper is inserted into the slot. It is fastened to the ductwork with four zip screws. The zone control damper uses standard thermostat wire and will work with almost any zone control panel. It is available in sizes ranging from 5 to 10 inches, and can work with up to 20 dampers per system.
