HVAC Excellence Offers 13 Plus SEER Training

LAS VEGAS - To prepare HVAC educators at schools and trainers at supply houses for the challenges of educating the future and current technical workforce in the requirements for retrofit of lower SEER systems to the new higher SEER units, Professor John Tomczyk will be conducting a train the trainer program on “13+ SEER Equipment and Higher Pressure Refrigerants.”

The program includes: how SEER is calculated, equipment covered, standard rating conditions, regulations and facts, unit size differences, market effects, effect on consumer demands, repair and replacement costs, coil matching, refrigerant charge differences, floodback to compressor concerns, metering devices and refrigerant management, and new technologies in compressors, evaporators, condensing units, and motors.

Tomczyk is a professor at Ferris State University, Big Rapids, Mich., a columnist, and the author of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technology; Troubleshooting and Servicing Modern Refrigeration, Heating and Air Conditioning Systems; Universal R-410A Training and Certification Manual; Refrigerant Transition and Certification Manual; Compression Systems, System Diagnostics and Troubleshooting; Alternative Refrigerant Blends and Oils; Basic Refrigeration and Charging Procedures.

The 13+ SEER Equipment and Higher Pressure Refrigerants Train the Trainers program is one of over 20 training sessions for educators and trainers at the HVAC Excellence National Educators and Trainers Conference that will be held March 16-19, 2008 in Las Vegas.
