MoreThe city of Houston was one of a number of 2008 Green Power Leadership Award winners recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The award was for Green Power Purchasing and included a commitment to renewable resources such as solar, wind, geothermal, biogas, biomass, and low-impact hydro.
Eight other entities - ING, Merritt 7 Venture, Oregon State University, PepsiCo, Powdr Resorts, Estee Lauder, Philadelphia Phillies, and the U.S. Air Force - were also honored in the category.
In addition, five entities - Bellingham (Wash.) College, Cisco, Intel, University of Pennsylvania, and WhiteWave Foods - were honored as Green Power Partners. Two - Lundberg Family Farms and Kohls - were cited for On-Site Generation.
