The 4-ton, 15.5 SEER Halcyon HFI Hybrid Flex Inverter heat pump system is a cross between VRF (variable refrigerant flow) and multizone technology, says the company. The system is designed for contractors to install easily in a wide variety of applications, from residential to light commercial. Various units - 7,000-, 9,000-, 12,000-, 18,000-, and 24,000-Btu wall-mount unit; 9,000-, 12,000-, and 18,000-Btu cassette units; and 9,000-, 12,000-, 18,000-, and 24,000-Btu concealed ceiling units - can connect to a single, 4-ton outdoor unit. This allows for as many as eight separate zones and 3,266 combinations. The system provides connectible capacity from 80-130 percent and from 39,000-62,000 Btu. In a Halcyon HFI, the metering devices are inside branch boxes, reducing the refrigerant path and using all flare connections.
