Continental Engineering & Service Co. of Johnston, RI, said it is preparing to refund in excess of $725,000 to area homeowners who recently installed Lennox central air conditioning systems, purchased from Continental.

The one stipulation is that on July 4, the temperature must hit 92°F at the national weather station at T.F. Green Airport. Last year the temperature hit 91° on the Fourth of July.

A brunch to celebrate will be held, where checks as high as $14,800 may be distributed. According to Continental, if the temperature reaches its lofty goal, this will be the single largest one-day distribution of money back to consumers participating in a local retail promotion.
