Fluent 6.0 computational fluid design (CFD) software has advanced in modeling engineering problems involving multiphase physics, rotating equipment, and combustion, states the company. Highly advanced tools help user to create a moving/deforming mesh for analysis of in-cylinder engine performance. The software’s CFD modeling capabilities include the ability to use granular kinetic theory for Eulerian simulations on unstructured meshes, which is needed in order to predict the behavior of solids in multiphase flows. According to the company, this software has the capability to postprocess results using turbomachinery-specific coordinates in its unstructured environment, which gives users who are modeling pumps, fans, blowers, and other rotating equipment the ability to accurately model their geometry using an unstructured mesh without sacrificing the ability to examine meridional, pitchwise, and spanwise cuts.
