The Orange County Public Schools in Florida has become the first school system to take part in the Utility Report Card program supported by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, and the Walt Disney World Co. The Web-based program allows schools to track, evaluate, and chart energy consumption. The system was first implemented by Walt Disney World to track energy consumption throughout the parks and resorts. A modified version of the program is being used by the school district to help determine sites where energy-efficient technology can be used to save on energy and energy costs.
