FitzGerald Elected New MCAA President

BOCA RATON, FL — Robert W. FitzGerald became president of the Mechanical Contractors Association of America (MCAA) during the association’s 113th annual convention, held here at the Boca Raton Resort and Club.

FitzGerald is ceo of FitzGerald Contractors, Inc., in Shreveport, LA. Before his appointment to MCAA’s board of directors in 1993, FitzGerald served on the Institute for Project Management Committee, the Education Committee, the Management Methods Committee, and the Nominating Committee. He also served as president of the National Environ-mental Balancing Bureau.

In addition to his national MCAA activities, FitzGerald has served as president and board member of the MCA of Shreveport-Bossier, Inc.

In other election results:

  • Thomas L. Williams was voted president elect. He is president of the Construction Division of McKenney’s, Inc., a 51-year-old mechanical contracting and engineering company with offices in Atlanta, GA; Chattanooga, TN; and Charlotte, NC.

  • Anthony P. Marandola was elected senior vice president and treasurer. Marandola is president of Marandola Mechanical, a mechanical construction and service company in Warwick, RI.

  • Michael W. Gossman was elected vice president and assistant treasurer. Gossman is chairman and ceo of Midwest Mechanical Contractors, Inc., a mechanical contracting company in Overland Park, KS.

  • Lonzo Coleman was elected to the board of directors. Coleman is president of Coleman Spohn Corp., a full-service mechanical contracting organization with offices in Cleveland, OH, and Pittsburgh, PA.

  • Kathryn Crosby was elected to the board of directors. Crosby is vice president of Harding Mechanical, a mechanical contracting firm in Salt Lake City, UT.

  • Mike Olinger was elected to the board of directors. Olinger is president and ceo of J.H. Kelly, LLC, a general industrial mechanical contractor specializing in process industries. J.H. Kelly is headquartered in Longview, WA, with other offices around the western United States.

    Awards were also handed out at the 2002 meeting:

  • Frederick S. Oyer received the association’s Distinguished Service Award. The award, MCAA’s highest form of recognition, is given as a permanent testimonial to those who have displayed extraordinary dedication and service to the progress, development, and expansion of MCAA and the mechanical construction industry.

  • Kinetics Southwest of Mesa, AZ, was the winner of the E. Robert Kent Award for Management Innovation, given annually to an MCAA member company whose innovation will improve productivity, achieve cost effectiveness, or otherwise improve the mechanical contracting industry. This year’s volume of high-quality entries led the Management Methods Committee to name two finalists in addition to the winner: Midwest Mechanical Contractors of New Jersey and Brewer-Garrett Co.
