WASHINGTON - The American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) Foundation and the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) will release the nation’s first sustainable residential remodeling guidelines at the annual ASID conference: INTERIORS 08. The official unveiling will take place on Friday, March 14, 2008 at the New Orleans Marriott.

The REGREEN program is a series of guidelines designed for use by residential designers, construction professionals, and homeowners. REGREEN includes best practices, learning programs, and print and electronic resources for those looking to do green remodeling room by room, or for an entire house.

“REGREEN is an important collaboration between both of our organizations,” said Rick Fedrizzi, president, CEO, and founding chair, U.S. Green Building Council. “Healthy living is on the minds of many Americans and by providing the tools and resources they need to reach their sustainability goals, we’ll be furthering our collective missions of education and transforming the built environment.”

A Website is also in development (www.regreenprogram.org) that will house all REGREEN related resources and include interactive links to case studies, products, and educational materials.

“These guidelines are a first for the industry and it couldn’t have happened without the partnership between ASID and USGBC,” says ASID Executive Director Michael Alin, Hon. FASID. “REGREEN is not just a set of guidelines, it’s much more than that. We are developing curriculum for learning programs and designing a comprehensive and user friendly consumer and professional Website to assist in green residential remodeling.”

Details of the program will be announced during a press conference and a complete copy of the final guidelines will be distributed. INTERIORS 08 attendees will also have the opportunity to attend a REGREEN workshop. For more information on INTERIORS 08, visit www.asid.org/interiors.
