Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius has appointed George Fahnestock to serve as chairman of the Kansas Technical College and Vocational School Commission. The commission was created by the legislature to study the mission, governance, and funding of Kansas technical colleges and vocational education schools.

Fahnestock, who will serve at the pleasure of the governor, is chairman of Fahnestock Plumbing, HVAC and Electrical Inc.
