The Basic Tool Manager is a low-cost tool manager based on bar code technology. This Windows-based software tracks who took the tool, where it is now, and when it is due back. Each tool tracked has a durable barcode label attached to it. When it is taken out of the storage area, this bar code identifier is scanned by an online or portable barcode terminal, as is the badge of the employee or truck or job to which the tool is assigned. A critical tool can be reserved so that it is available for a job, and it is possible to search in the system for an item at any time by location, employee, jobsite, etc. An advanced feature includes the ability to track maintenance schedules and condition of more expensive tools and equipment. The Deployment Option is designed for larger companies that want to track groups of tools deployed to different job locations and then in turn checked out to an employee.
