Detmer and Sons Continues to Grow and Expand

December 8, 2008

MIAMI VALLEY, Ohio - Detmer and Sons has expanded its range of services and continues its growth pattern in the commercial and residential HVAC markets. Detmer’s recent service expansion includes the purchase of McPhearsons Heating and Cooling, a family owned and operated business specializing in all forms of oil heating, and the formation of Airflow Advantage, an air duct cleaning company. For the fifth consecutive year, Detmer said it will experience an average growth rate of 20 percent increase in sales per year.

Detmer and Sons, a family owned and operated business since 1978, believes its successes are based on a proven 30-year track record, and the ability to identify and satisfy its customers’ HVAC needs. “Over the last seven years, we’ve seen our business grow and the mix change from 95 percent residential/5 percent commercial ratio to a 50/50 ratio,” said Eric Detmer, VP of business development. “Diversification has led to much of our growth pattern. With our recent acquisitions, McPhearson Heating Cooling this summer, Hussong Sheet Metal in 2004, and Brockman Furnace Co. in 2000, Detmer is positioned to provide total, well-rounded HVAC solutions to customers of all types.

“Our services start at the concept/idea level, continue with the installation and maintenance of a HVAC system designed to meet one’s residential or commercial needs. We’ve expanded our engineering department and warehousing needs by an additional 4,000 square feet to meet the demand.”

Detmer added, “Our commercial division has seen tremendous growth in the Dayton area. Customers are looking for more efficient HVAC options and a company that will address their needs without sacrificing the quality of service. Over the years we’ve proven ourselves with our team approach built on trust, getting the job done right and on time.”

Some of Detmer and Sons’ recent commercial projects include the Pentagon Tower in Beavercreek, the Teradata Building in Miami Township, Kettering Network’s Health Center in Sugarcreek Township, Lebanon Medical Center in Lebanon, and Milano’s Restaurant in Beavercreek. These projects include both new construction and retrofit of existing buildings, as well as complete maintenance programs for optimal efficiency.

Detmer and Sons has teamed up with Synergy Building Systems for its HVAC needs on all commercial projects. Todd Duplain, Synergy’s director of development said, “Synergy’s success is based on quality, attention to detail, ownership flexibility, and great locations for clients such as Computer Science Corporation, QBase, and Kettering Health Network. Thus we required an established, reliable HVAC subcontractor that could meet the demands of our customers’ needs, schedules, and budgets consistently.”

“To round out our customer’s total HVAC needs, our Airflow Advantage Company provides air duct cleaning, air filtration, humidification, and dehumidification for ultimately better indoor air quality,” Eric Detmer said. “Duct cleaning removes contaminants such as the collection of fungi, bacteria, and other small dust particles created in a heating and air conditioning system. Airflow Advantage is a certified complete Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) Specialist.”

Detmer and Sons’ residential division services all makes and models of furnaces, heat pumps, oil-fired furnaces, air conditioners, humidifiers, and electronic air cleaners. Maintenance programs include a fall and spring checkup with discounted, priority service. An authorized dealer of Lennox and Bryant, the contractor is also a specialist in the retrofitting of existing systems, custom build and design, and energy management.

The commercial division specializes in new construction and servicing of existing systems as well, including boilers and refrigeration units for a variety of applications including restaurants, medical facilities, defense contractors, and business office parks. Custom design, engineering, and planned maintenance programs provide customers the ability to plan, budget, and manage their HVAC needs efficiently.
