COURSE TITLE: Testing, Adjusting and Balancing, #L654

COURSE DESCRIPTION: The course on testing, adjusting, and balancing will assist attendees in the process of testing, adjusting, and balancing building environmental systems. They can learn how to balance air and water systems, adjust new and existing systems to provide design quantities, verify equipment and automatic controls performance, measure sound and vibration, and estimate costs. Topics include duct design, psychrometrics, testing and measurement, fans, systems and terminal units, automatic temperature controls, electric motors, air balance lab, ducts and controls, water systems and pumps; balancing; water balance lab, troubleshooting existing air and water systems, sound and vibration in systems, and cost estimating techniques.

Labs and workshops will give every attendee the opportunity to work directly with real systems and equipment. Attendees will work on the classroom HVAC demonstration units and existing water systems using the department’s test equipment. Working in small groups, students will apply classroom lectures and material in actual fieldwork, while having the opportunity to ask questions and discover new techniques. Students can earn 36 Professional Development Hours (PDH) and 3.6 Continuing Education Units (CEU). This course has been approved by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) for 36 GBCI CE hours for LEED® AP maintenance.
