ST. JOHNS, Newfoundland - On June 30, the Canadian Institute of Plumbing and Heating (CIPH) marked the official sod turning for its seventh Habitat for Humanity Home Build.

Over 250 delegates, companions, and guests from across Canada and the United States attended the event in Newfoundland.

CIPH also held its 78th Annual Business Conference at the Sheraton Hotel Newfoundland from June 27-30, 2010.

Guests had the opportunity to meet the partner family, Angela Marsh and her two children aged 5 and 3.

Under the leadership of CIPH Newfoundland Region President Tony Noonan (Emco Corp.) and Past President Carl Burt (Par Four Plumbing Products), members from CIPH Newfoundland will participate in Build Days throughout the summer with a final key dedication ceremony being planned for late September. “We are very pleased that this CIPH home will be built with environmentally friendly products that include low flow faucets, toilets, showerheads and a modern hot water heating system,” said Noonan.

“Build Days are a very rewarding way to give back to your community. By volunteering your time and talent you are helping a family realize the dream of owning their own home and it is truly an amazing feeling to help improve our Canadian communities - one family at a time,” said Martin Deschênes (Groupe Deschênes).

CIPH’s Habitat for Humanity (HFH) Week will take place Sept. 12-18, 2010. CIPH members from across Canada hold various fundraising events in support of local HFH Affiliates in their community. For more information on how your company can get involved, contact Nancy Barden at barden@sympatico.ca.
