Chiller Systems Group Meets in Kansas City

The Chiller Systems Group’s fall meeting included highly technical roundtable discussions and manufacturer sponsored technical training.

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - The Chiller Systems Group (CSG) held its fall meeting Oct. 1-3 at the Intercontinental Plaza Hotel in Kansas City, Kan. The meeting was hosted by US Engineering Co. and Design Mechanical and was attended by over 90 members and guests representing independent chiller service contractors from all over the United States and Canada.

The meeting included highly technical roundtable discussions on Micro Control Systems (MCS) control retrofits, IFM vibration analysis, expanding chiller retrofit markets, chiller overhaul best practices, and selling and expanding retrofits.

Sponsors that participated in the technical training included MCS, Bitzer Compressors, IFM, McQuay International, and Smardt. CSG also conducted its second meeting of the controls group to facilitate technology sharing and best practices for building automation systems within the Chiller Systems Group. The breakout meeting included presentations from Honeywell and ComLogix.

The group’s 2010 spring meeting will be held in Chicago and hosted by Automatic Mechanical Services.

CSG is a network of independent contractors throughout the United States dedicated to knowledge sharing and training to provide building owners the highest level of chiller service. It works with chiller manufacturers to provide members technical training and information in a timely manner. Meetings are held semiannually to exchange technical data, best practices, and stay current on manufacturer and supplier capabilities. In addition to the semiannual meetings and training, members share technical information daily through an e-mail user group. The group is comprised of 48 independent contractors who specialize in chiller systems service, with its members performing service annually on over 10,000 chillers.
