BP Solar has announced that it is discontinuing production of thin-film solar products in favor of more traditional solar cell technologies based on crystalline silicon. BP Solar will stop thin-film manufacturing at the company’s Fairfield, CA, facility and convert it into a warehouse, distribution center, and base for the company’s West Coast sales and marketing efforts.
The company will close its Toana, VA, manufacturing plant if a buyer cannot be found, and an associated technology center is to close immediately.
