BCA Unveils Certification Program

EDMONDS, Wash. - After four years of working on developing its commissioning certification program, the Building Commissioning Association (BCA) gave an update on its progress on April 12.

"From the start, our goal has been to create a program that is accepted as the industry standard and conforms to established criteria within the professional certification community," said Bryan Welsh, chairman of the BCA Certification Committee. "We think we have succeeded, and it's time to put it to work."

The program was launched and has been supported with contract funds provided by the Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance.

A special presentation on the process will be made during the BCA Annual Meeting on May 19 in Atlanta. Questions will be answered at a special National Conference on Building Commissioning (NCBC) presentation on certification, and during the NCBC Exhibition where BCA will have an exhibit.

The first round of testing will be held on July 31 in New York, Atlanta, St. Louis, Seattle, and Las Vegas. Specific test locations will be announced at a later date.
