MoreARLINGTON, Va. - The Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA) has added new dates to the training schedule for its Fundamentals of Load Calculation and System Design course. Sept. 27-29, 2005, Washington, D.C. Oct. 4-6, 2005, Houston Oct. 25-27, 2005, Charlotte, N.C. Dec. 6-8, 2005, Columbia, S.C. Jan. 17-19, 2006, Clearwater, Fla. Feb. 7-9, 2006, New Orleans
According to ACCA, the three-day course teaches the concepts behind load calculation, equipment selection, duct design, and room air distribution. The design theory is then used as a foundation for hands-on training on computer-assisted system design software.
Both residential and commercial classes are being offered. Included in the classes is an overview of the impact of the upcoming 13 SEER requirement on systems design.
Upcoming dates for the residential class include:
A commercial version of the course, Commercial Load Calculation and Systems Design, will be held in Jacksonville, Fla., April 4-6, 2006.
The class provides continuing education units plus 20 hours toward North American Technician Excellence (NATE) recertification.
Tuition for the course is $550 for ACCA members and $595 for non-members. Tuition includes copies of Manual J® Eighth Edition and Manual D®, as well as demo software, for the residential class; and Manual N® for the commercial class.
