Aug. 2, 2004: June Unitary Shipments Hit Record Level

ARLINGTON, Va. - Combined U.S. factory shipments of central air conditioners and air-source heat pumps hit a record in June with 1,081,147 units shipped, a 14 percent jump from last June's record of 946,416 units, according to Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute (ARI) statistics. Total shipments of 4,335,387 units are up 12 percent for the first six months of 2004.

Heat pump shipments for June of 236,433 units were up 24 percent compared to June 2003. The year-to-date total of 1,028,000 is up 18 percent from January-June 2003.

June distributor shipments were down 3 percent from June 2003, with year-to-date shipments up 8 percent.
