Associations for the Week: May 21, 2001

  • The Radiant Panel Association (RPA) (Loveland, CO) has released sales numbers for radiant tubing in 2000. Sales of tubing used in hydronic radiant heating peaked at 150,000,000 lineal feet sold in 2000 throughout the North American market. RPA also says that the 2000 tubing sales represent a 7.8% increase over the previous years.
  • The Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors’ National Association (SMACNA) recently recognized individuals with legislative awards. Kenneth Enscoe, executive director of SMACNA of Western Pennsylvania, Inc. received the Special Legislative Service Award at SMACNA’s annual legislative awards dinner. Also recognized at the dinner was William Freese, of International Testing and Balancing, in Seaford, NY, who was awarded the Legislative Contractor of the Year award. The Chapter Executive Legislative Advocate of the Year award went to Linda Hughes, executive director of Orange Empire SMACNA. Finally, Dale Barnett of Payson Sheet Metal in Payson, UT, was honored with a special award for Distinguished Legislative Service.
  • The Air-Conditioning & Refrigeration Institute (ARI) (Arlington, VA) has elected Daniel W. Holmes as chairman of the Board of Directors. Holmes is currently chairman and chief executive of Morrison Products, Inc. Other appointments include Thomas E. Bettcher as first vice chairman, Jonathan W. Ayers as second vice chairman, and Gary L. Tapella as immediate past chairman. Also elected were eight vice presidents, Scott Boxer, Ralph Coppola, Debbie Hawkins, Joseph R. Humphrey, David J. Huntley, David J. LaGrand, David Pannier, and John H. Reilly. Finally, Robert Wilkins was elected as treasurer.
