This Ethernet-to-serial router is a device that ex-tends Ethernet connectivity options for the company's controllers and networks. The router intelligently detects and relays alarm events to a monitor, the company states. Featuring a built-in Web server, the EtherLink/2 can be configured in an Internet Explorer Web browser window. Also, it can be configured via the serial port using HyperTerminal or similar software. It supports one TCP/IP and multiple UDP connections simultaneously on a single IP port. The router has switch-selectable RS-232 or RS-485 serial communication. Simple network time protocol (SNTP) is used in the router to perform time synchronization and timekeeper functions with separate destination addresses for ASIC/1 or ASIC/2 controllers. A built-in FTP server enables upgrades to the flash memory.
