APC: Data Center Cooling Unit

The InfraStruXure® InRow™ RP is a cooling unit for data centers and small computer rooms. It places cooling next to the heat source, providing predictable, dynamic heat removal for medium, high, and ultra-high density deployments. A chilled-water unit is available up to 70 kW and a refrigerant-based unit is available up to 37 kW. This variable airflow capability lowers operating costs by reducing energy consumption during partial-load conditions. An integrated humidifier provides room-level moisture control, preventing damage to sensitive electronic equipment due to static electric discharge. Additional moisture control is provided through a dedicated dehumidification cycle and standard reheat coil to prevent overcooling during dehumidification. The manufacturer’s cooling design allows for the addition of hot aisle or rack air containment. This improves predictability, isolates rack deployments, and allows high-density installations in data centers with traditional cooling architectures. A patent-pending control algorithm enables real-time capacity monitoring to facilitate planning of new IT deployments.
