Anvil International: Pipe Coupling

The Gruvlok® 7001 standard coupling can be used to form flexible grooved-end pipe joint connections. It allows for simple pipe and equipment installation through mechanically designed benefits that reduce pipeline noise and vibration transmission without special components. When used in mechanical room applications, its vibration attenuation characteristics are equal to or exceed that of elastomeric “boot”-type and flexible metal-reinforced hose connections. It provides optimal strength in working pressures up to 1,000 psi without excessive casting weight. The coupling can join pipe, form a union at a joint, dampen vibration, and help monitor angular deflection. As this adaptable coupling allows for thermal expansion and contraction with temperature changes, the need for an expansion joint is minimized or eliminated. Couplings from 1 to 14 inches have two 180-degree segment housings, 16- to 18-inch products have three segment housings, 20- to 24-inch sizes have four 90-degree segment housings, and the 28- and 30-inch I.D. couplings have six 60-degree segment housings. Both ductile iron housings and malleable iron housings are available.
