The Activator™ Series ring panels and links consist of layers of multidenier polyester media sealed around a 9-gauge internal wire frame with integral cross wire support members. The media fibers capture dirt particles throughout the depth of the filter, preventing face loading, increasing dust-holding capacity, and extending the service life, says the manufacturer. The air-leaving side of each panel is applied with a tacky adhesive to prevent particle migration downstream. The filters are manufactured in two-, three-, and four-ply models to meet requirements of MERV 6, 7, and 8, respectively. To inhibit microbial growth on the filters, two-ply Bio-Pure® panels are available, with an EPA-registered antimicrobial agent. Activator panels can be used in a variety of applications, including prefilters and rooftop air handlers.
