21-CR Releases Projects for Bid

ARLINGTON, VA — Two new research projects have been selected by the Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Technical Institute (ARTI) Steering Committee for Hvacr Research for the 21st Century (21-CR) program. The projects open for bid are:

  • High condensing temperature heat transfer performance of low critical temperature refrigerants; $225,000 budget; and
  • Automated integration of real-time information into building management systems; $150,000 budget will be from 2001 funding.
  • Prospective bidders should download bidding instructions, work statements, and other pertinent information from the ARTI website at www.arti-21cr.org.

With these projects, there are now 26 projects authorized with a total budget of $3.3 million. The next round of project request for proposals (RFP) is expected in April 2001.

The aim of 21-CR is to resolve technological hurdles and difficulties that prevent or impede introducing next-generation hvacr equipment and services, according to the institutions. Monetary support for the program is provided by organizations including the Air-Conditioning & Refrigeration Institute (ARI); the Copper Development Association (CDA); the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE); and the Refrigeration Service Engineers Society (RSES).
