The following is an addendum to the April 17 Residential Cooling Showcase and the May 8 Commercial Cooling Showcase issues of The NEWS.

Serviceability features: Copeland ComfortAlertâ„¢ self-diagnostic module included in each ASH13. Large control panel can be mounted out of the way while routine maintenance is being performed.

Technical support materials: Specification sheets, installation and operation manuals, parts manuals, service manuals, and technical manuals available on the Website through PartnerLink.

Noise-reduction features: Dense foam compressor sound cover. A venturi is formed in each top and there is a wire fan discharge grille.

IAQ equipment supported: Amana® brand air cleaners, UV lights, and humidifiers are available.

Thermostat compatibility: Does not require a special thermostat.

Model: SkyAir Systems FCQ/FHQ – RZQ models

Footprint (inches): FCQ indoor unit: 11-3/8 by 33-1/8 by 33-1/8; FHQ indoor unit: 7-11/16 by 62-5/8 by 26-3/4; RZQ outdoor unit: 52-15/16 by 35-7/16 by 12-5/8.

Serviceability features: The SkyAir system features a self-diagnostic function with error codes referring to a potential cause of failure. All indoor units' and outdoor units' piping and electrical systems can be accessed from panels without disturbing the walls or ceilings.

Thermostat compatibility: Daikin supplies thermostats and standard wired controls. A seven day programmable controller (BRC1D71) is available as an option.

Replacement parts compatibility: Replacement parts are shared.

Additional features: This duct-free system features a Daikin inverter "variable -speed" compressor using R-410A refrigerant.

Warranty information: Six-year compressor warranty, one-year parts warranty, and one year limited labor.

Special installation requirements: Service space and piping limitations must be followed as described in the engineering data book.

Model: FDXS/RXS Systems

Footprint (inches): indoor: 7-7/8 by 27-9/16 by 24-7/16; outdoor: 21-5/8 by 30-1/8 by 11-1/4.

Serviceability features: The less than 8-inch height of the FDXS makes it suitable for most of the residential applications where attic space is limited. Other features include a bottom or rear suction option, long piping (66 feet), and pre-charged R-410A refrigerant for piping length up to 33 feet.

Noise-reduction features: The outdoor unit silent operation function automatically lowers the operation sound of the outdoor unit by 3 dBa. The night quiet mode reduces the operation sound of the outdoor unit by another 3 dBa at night.

IAQ equipment supported: Standard filters.

Thermostat compatibility: Daikin control system and wireless remote controller as standard.

Replacement parts compatibility: Replacement parts are shared.

Additional features: This is a hybrid crossover from the traditional ductless solution into the larger ducted unitary marketplace. The FDXS models offer the benefits of ductless technology for spot cooling, add-ons, and dedicated zone systems, but it will also be installed like a more traditional ducted system. It is an alternative to wall-mounted units.

Warranty information: Seven-year compressor warranty, five-year parts warranty, and one-year labor.

Special installation requirements: Service space and piping limitations must be followed as described in the engineering data book.
