HRAI and AHRI Discuss Standards
The key issues covered in the meeting included the divergence in Canadian HVACR standards from a harmonized North American and/or international approach, the current CSA process for evaluating the development of new standards, the funding models used to determine which standards move forward, and industry involvement in the strategic aspects of CSA’s work on HVACR standards.
HRAI and AHRI also expressed serious concerns with a number of new HVACR standards being contemplated by CSA and asked that the two associations, and the industry, be more involved on the ground level of considering new standards for the HVACR sector.
The HRAI, AHRI, and CSA representatives at the meeting agreed it was productive and informative for those who participated and that regular meetings should be held to help close any gaps in communications between CSA and the associations. The next meeting is scheduled for late summer or early fall.
