May 22, 2008: Emerson Climate Technologies Announces New Executive Appointments

May 22, 2008

SIDNEY, Ohio - Thomas E. Bettcher, president and chief executive officer of Emerson Climate Technologies, a business of Emerson, has announced a number of key leadership changes to take place over the next few months. Edgar M. Purvis Jr. has been named executive vice president of Emerson and business leader of Emerson Climate Technologies, headquartered in Sidney, Ohio. Bettcher, who had been business leader since 1997, will become chairman of Emerson Climate Technologies and focus primarily on strategic planning and organizational development.

“For the past 24 years, Ed Purvis has been extremely instrumental in positioning Emerson Climate Technologies as a global leader in the heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration industry,” said Bettcher. “His leadership will continue to strengthen all areas of the company as the industry adapts in this ever-changing economic environment.”

Purvis joined Emerson in 1983 as a product planner with Copeland. He assumed a number of senior management positions in air conditioning marketing, sales and product planning, and in 1993 was appointed vice president of marketing. In 1995, Purvis was promoted to vice president of sales and marketing, and in1996 became the president of refrigeration, a position he held until 2003 when he was named group vice president of refrigeration.

Bettcher announced that additional changes to the Emerson Climate Technologies management structure include:

• William T. Bosway, president of Emerson Climate Technologies – Asia since 2003, will become president of Emerson Climate Technologies – Refrigeration and Solutions, and assume responsibilities previously held by Purvis for the company’s Refrigeration, Solutions, Flow Controls and Latin America operations. Bosway will return to the United States from Hong Kong. He joined Copeland in 1990 and held numerous senior positions in domestic air conditioning and refrigeration before being named senior vice president of OEM marketing and international-Americas in 2000. A year later he became senior vice president of marketing and operations.

• D. Scott Barbour, president of Emerson Climate Technologies – Air Conditioning, has been named president of Emerson Climate Technologies – Asia and will move to Hong Kong. Barbour began his career at Emerson in 1989 and has risen through a series of increasingly responsible positions in Emerson Climate Technologies – Air Conditioning, including vice president of marketing, executive vice president, and executive vice president and general manager.

• Brent A. Schroeder, president of Therm-O-Disc, will become president of Emerson Climate Technologies – Air Conditioning. Schroeder began his career at Therm-O-Disc in 1988 as a sales engineer, and was promoted to a number of account and sales manager positions before being named vice president of North America sales in 1997. From 1999 to 2001 he served as senior vice president for international operations and then assumed the position of senior vice president of sales and marketing. In 2003, he was named president of the Fusite business, a post he held until assuming his present position in 2006.

• Mark D. Dunson has been promoted to vice president and general manager of air conditioning sales and marketing for Emerson Climate Technologies - Asia. Dunson joined the company in 1996 and has long experience in Asia, having served there in senior marketing roles since 2000 and as vice president of air conditioning marketing since 2003 with additional responsibility for India since 2006.

• Richard A. DeNuzzo, chief financial officer of Emerson Climate Technologies and a veteran of more than 30 years with the company, will assume additional responsibilities for coordinating the company’s IT functions. DeNuzzo was named chief financial officer in 1997 after serving as vice president/controller and planning for the company.

“I am confident that these new assignments and responsibilities for our management team will continue to provide a solid foundation of leadership to enhance our strong position in the industry, “said Bettcher. “Their combined experience sends a strong leadership message about the commitment of Emerson Climate Technologies to serving our customers’ needs.”
