Distributor Tests Efficiency

STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. — Anthony and Jason Calverley, owners of Calverley Supply, an HVAC distributor in Sterling Heights, Mich., set out to prove which was the better choice; continue using an inefficient unit heater or investing in a new more efficient unit heater.

These owners stock and sell Reznor Model UEAS unit heaters, and promote them for their high fuel efficiency. They decided to test them in their own warehouse.

During the winter of 2007/2008 they kept track of the natural gas used by two unit heaters. The next year they replaced them with two Reznor Model UEAS 90+ efficient unit heaters.

According to the Calverleys, the results were overwhelming.

“It was difficult to believe the savings when they were first calculated, but seeing the difference on our monthly gas bills is enough evidence for us,” said Jason Calverley. “We are going to continue replacing the units in our own buildings with the Reznor Model UEAS unit heater. It just makes good financial sense.”

They calculated that they used 23.8 percent less fuel, saving over $800 in only four months. They anticipate increases in natural gas rates over the next few years, making the upgrade to the Model UEAS well worth the investment.
