RWE Schott Solar Inc. (RSS), a manufacturer and distributor of solar components and systems, has contracted with Prevalent Power Inc., a California-based clean energy developer and systems integrator, to provide a flat-roof solar electric power system for the County of Marin in Northern California. RSS is providing products and support, including the SunRoof™ FS flat-roof systems, as well as engineering, supply, and logistical services. Prevalent Power is performing the project design, installation, and management. An electrical usage evaluation was performed by RSS, and it was determined that an 89-kW SunRoof FS system, capable of powering 30 to 60 average homes, would reduce the electricity bills for the General Services Garage to nearly zero. The system is expected to pay for itself in 13 years.
