The Antigua Condominiums, a 14-story beachfront building in Ocean City, Md., recently installed a geothermal system to provide the heating and cooling needs for 104 condominiums. The condominiums are equipped with GeoExchange systems, making Antigua condominiums the first condominium community of its size on the East Coast to use this type of system. A&A Air Services Inc. of Selbyville, Del., recommended the system when the condominium association chose to replace the existing system for something more efficient and environmentally friendly.

The project contains 107 WaterFurance International geothermal heat pumps and includes Intellizone zoning systems in the penthouses on the 13th and 14th floors. The vertical loop system installed under the parking lot consists of 160 bore holes, each 175 feet deep totaling over 10 miles of polyethylene pipe.
